My Wedding
We were married in April 6, 1929 at the Edgewater Presbyterian Church. My father paid for the wedding and he walked me down the aisle. Coming down the isle I dropped my hanky and my good friend Marion Burr picked it up for me. We held our reception at the Edgewater Beach hotel. At that time the Edgewater was a fabulous hotel, but it has since been torn down. We had a great party with dancing and all, for about 250 people. I sat with my cousin Shirley, when I wasnt dancing with my new husband. (Both of us talked about how much we wanted a cigarette).
We spent our first night at the Edgewater Beach, without telling anyone we were staying there. The nights charges were $8.00 for the room and fifteen-cents for a phone call. The next morning we started our trip to Lima, Ohio where we had been invited to stay with my sister Gwen and her husband Stewart, then on to Cincinnati to visit Kens sister Ethel. We drove my mothers car a Chevy. In Cincinnati we stayed at the Gibson hotel ($5.50 per night). On the way back from Cincinnati we stopped for one night in Indianapolis at the Lincoln Hotel ($5.00 per night plus ninety cents for a long-distance call).
