SATURDAY

Back in the Limo

Saturday at 3:30 the limo picked us up again for some more "hotel hopping."

One of the tricks the limo had was to send out fog into the cab. The pictures below were taken during that time.

Our first stop was to the Stratosphere, a very tall building with an outside roller coaster on the top. It also had a very high elevator that shoots people up to the top spire.

These folks went to the top of the building, but some just went for the view; other actually took the rides.

Top row: Randy, Eddie, Ken, Ryan. Front row: Nicole (she got to go on the ride this time), Russell, Kyle, Lori and Colin
While the rest went on the rides or just to see the spectacular view of the city, Andy, Randy, Eric, and Shan (behind the camera), played a little quarter black jack. Andy lasted the longest. I was done first.
The beautiful view from the top. Ken and Lori enjoy the sunset
Gathering before the ride.
At the top of the stratosphere there are two rides, both outside. One is the roller coaster, seen in yellow. The other ride straps people in, to the outside of a tall spike. They are "shot" to the top, then "gently" bounce up and down until they return to the starting point. You can see the arms and legs handing out.

Below is a great picture of Colin, Ryan, Nicole, and Eddie. Nicole looks excited, Eddie seems interested in the outside scenery, and Colin and Ryan, well, they just look plain terrified.

Freemont street (downtown) was our next visit. Several blocks have a canopy of tiny lights perhaps 3 stories high over the street. On the hour, for 7 minutes, the lights produce patterns and pictures, to music, while tourists gape. We were warned to hang onto our purses and wallets while this was going on.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, as portrayed by Colin, Kyle, and Russell. Or, if you prefer:

"My jaw hurts!"

"I'm tired."

"My hands are cold."

We were all dropped off at Treasure Island, to see the Pirate Show. That was a big mistake. Some of us got into the middle of the crowd on the sidewalk, with new people adding themselves at both ends. Eventually we were packed in like sardines, with no one able to see, except Nicole, who was put up into the stands by some nice folks who took pity on her.
Randy raised his camera above the crowd and took this shot. He couldn't see anything, either.
Andy told everyone about Steven Spielberg's "GameWorks," near MGM. All the young folks headed up there. Russell, Kyle, and Nicole had a great time.
